"Take A Bag, Leave A Bag" Pilot Program
The "Take A Bag, Leave A Bag" Pilot Program is an effort by the City of Los Angeles Stormwater Program to install dispensers that hold plastic bags that park patrons can use to pick up after their pets and then throw the bag with the pet waste in the trash. Residents can also leave plastic bags in the dispenser for others to use. By having residents contribute plastic bags to the dispensers; the community is involved in reducing the cost of bags and labor for the program, while keeping LA clean and healthy.
The "Take A Bag, Leave A Bag" pilot program has several purposes:
• Encourage LA residents to pick up after their dogs every time.
• Keep the parks cleaner and healthier for residents and dogs.
• Reduce bacteria found in our local waterways and ocean.
• Reuse plastic bags.
• Involve community members in an important program to prevent stormwater pollution.
By Fall 2009, there will be 3 dispensers located at each of the following parks in the City of LA:
• Ascot Hills Park
• Elysian Park
• Sepulveda Basin Off Leash Dog Park
• Westminster Dog Park
